The best way to engage with your community is through service. I am excited to have this opportunity to encourage others to give back to the community through volunteering! Below you will find information about local organizations that provide opportunities to volunteer in service of your community and a brief description of their mission. Click on the individual pictures for each organization to be taken to their volunteer portal.
Slow Food Lake Tahoe's mission is to connect our community to the enjoyment of good, clean and fair food by inspiring a self-reliant food culture. We educate the community about growing, preparing and accessing local and sustainable food. Good, clean and fair food for all.
"Keep Tahoe Blue" means a crystal clear Lake, functioning and healthy forests, meadows, streams and marshes that support abundant native plants and wildlife, an active and informed community of residents and visitors who act as stewards for the Lake, and communities and facilities within longstanding urban boundaries that harmonize with the natural environment by finding a balance between outdoor recreation, human uses and a Lake resilient to climate change now and into the future.
Valhalla Tahoe is a volunteer based nonprofit organization. We have a very small paid staff and rely heavily on our small army of committed volunteers. It’s a wonderful community of folks and we would love your help too!
There are many volunteer opportunities to choose from including festival and special event staff, restoration projects, landscaping, office support and much more! All our volunteers get to enjoy the event they work and they are invited to an end of season Thank You party!
Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is one of the most enjoyable and fulfilling things you’ll ever do. You can help shape a child’s future for the better by empowering them to achieve. And the best part is, it’s actually a lot of fun. You and your Little can share the kinds of activities you already like to do.
Volunteers are foundational to the continuity and inspiration of our work! Every year, volunteers support our special events and projects that connect visitors to the rich cultural heritage and natural resources of the Lake Tahoe-Donner region. Together, we preserve, restore, educate, and advocate for our parks – all while fostering kindness and stewardship that spans generations.
Volunteers get to be a part of our unique events and projects, receive park passes (minimum 40 hours per year of service), and have the knowledge of making a lasting impact. Because the Lake Tahoe-Donner region receives an increasing number of visitors each year, our parks need support from a dedicated team of volunteers now more than ever!
The Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation (TTCF) connects people and opportunities, generating resources to build a more caring, creative, and effective community. In addition to grantmaking to our local nonprofits and providing scholarships to local students, we focus on specific initiatives such as family strengthening, housing for our local workforce and forest health.
Donating to TTCF's General Support Fund enables us to continue serving the place you love, and your gift can be counted as an investment in Tahoe Truckee forever. Through deep-rooted partnerships, we are able to keep our finger on the pulse of our community, which allows us to identify the greatest needs and direct these flexible resources accordingly.
